Do any simple search and you’ll see that countless studies clearly show the happiest people are living in the northern European countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, etc). Places definitely without weather and sun like Florida or southern California or southern Spain
I am not sure about this, and I don't have time to research it, but I seem to recall that the happiness levels in northern Europe have to do with the social safety nets provided by those governments, rather than the climate.
For those of you living in a sunny, warm place (year round), do you think you are happier in general than those who live somewhere with 4 proper seasons? Of course this varies greatly from person to person, I'm just trying to get a general idea. So for example a person living in southern California or Florida versus someone living in the NE (US) somewhere, with 4 full seasons.
I've lived in sunny, Southern California my entire life so I never knew otherwise regarding the weather. Now generally speaking, I guess weather plays some small part in one's mood because there are psychological studies about the moods of people who live in a sunny state as opposed to where it rains or is gloomy all the time, for example.
I personally always loved the rain since I was a child & I acutally wish it would rain more often here & even lightly snow occasionally. (It does snow in certain areas of CA like if I drive about 30 min N towards the mountains.)
Now regarding my happiness, I never connect how I feel to the weather personally. The weather is what it is here. I'm happy & try to stay that way no matter what. Now would I like it better if it rained more often here? Sure, but either way isn't going to make be happier, depressed, or whatever else.
It depends. If it's been raining and miserable for weeks, a nice sunny day would definitely lift my mood. However, the opposite holds true right now. After a summer of brutal heat waves in the pacific NW, I am ready for nice crisp cool fall days. I also do better in cold than the heat, I think more clearly.
Unrelenting heat and humidity will suck the life force out of you (i.e. Florida). I am with Parnassia on this one. It is unrelenting. Today is 88 degrees and humidity is 61%.
I only stay because I can't afford to move right now and I am alone and kind of scared to move where I don't know anyone.
I find chilly weather energizing. Four seasons would be nice - not cold all year, but not hot all year.

True! The cooler weather does seem to energize the brain. I briefly lived in New England and my head was clearer with the colder weather.
A/C helps, but at some point you have to go outside. You have to actually mentally prepare yourself for it and use rags so you don't burn yourself when you go to buckle your seatbelt.
