My thoughts exactly. Some areas in Spain may seem closer to Mexico, culturally speaking (and, I guess, the people as well), but this isn't the case for most people/areas.

I have lived in both Mexico and Spain and the cultures are completely different. (except for language and even that is different).

oh we have been living parallel lives aliveandwellinsa? I lived in Mexico City and Barcelona, traveled extensively in both Spain and Mexico--worlds apart as you know!!

I spent many years in Madrid, Barcelona and Seville. Then Latin America for 8 more years, Panama, Honduras, Costa Rica and Mexico. In Mexico, Huatulco, Oaxaca, San Miguel de Allende, Ajijic and Monterrey and lots of points in between.

Yes worlds apart and both are great.

well you know what you're talking about then! I have been to all of those places and also hiked the Camino de Santiago de Compostela--HIGHLY recommened for anyone reading! No experience necessary--it's 500 miles long but it's all about one foot in front of another...
