Long overdue. Unfortunately, Michigan has so many status-quo minded people in power that they might be the last state to ever implement something like this.
It's a shame, because the Detroit Metro is really in need of commuter rail. People there act like you have two heads when you mention it, but one simply needs to go to its neighbors, Chicago and Toronto, to see how its done. Apparently nobody from Metro Detroit goes to Chicago or Toronto. Huh.

pokuku, I totally agree. I love the Chicago L/Metra and Toronto Subway/Go Trains when I visit and so much so that I wish we had it in Metro Detroit. But let's face it, the Metro Detroit region is a extremely car centric region due to its history. I just wish we had more transportation options in MI.
