But of course the difference is that when we added black people and women to the ranks generations ago, they didn’t need surgeries to change their genitals, surgeries to take off their breasts, nor did they need an infinite supply of drugs to combat their mental illness, nor did they need an infinite supply of hormones to keep changing who they really are.

But again, if you want a study that says that trans people actually make us a much better military, you will be able to find it on any corrupt think tank website. There are dozens of them.
The point is that some used ridiculous racist stereotypes and arguments of blacks being disproportionately impacted by certain things (among other arguments) as a means of excluding blacks and giving blacks subpar jobs when they were allowed to join. I bring up this point to note that, just as many of the arguments against blacks joining the ranks were stupid and unfounded, I'm open to the same possibility with regards to trans people.

Also, trans people don't require surgeries; that's false. Some choose to get surgeries, but some don't.

Still, much of the military is medicated already beyond belief (same with many Americans in general). If you were to take out all of the medicated military servicemembers, you'd have a significant problem filling the ranks. I say if someone's condition can be treated quite easily and they can still be effective, why not let them serve? They're volunteering to give their lives for their country when the vast majority of the nation won't lift a finger or a leg to get off the couch to hit up a recruiting station.

On the psych drugs/medication front, for instance, consider these points from the Army alone:

Quote:
More than 110,000 active-duty Army troops were taking prescribed antidepressants, narcotics, antipsychotics, sedatives and anti-anxiety drugs in 2011, the newspaper reports. Almost 8 percent of the active-duty Army is now taking sedatives, and more than 6 percent is on antidepressants. This represents an eightfold increase since 2005.

Here's some other data:

Quote:
One in six American service members were taking at least one psychiatric medication in 2010. More than 110,000 Army personnel were given antidepressants, narcotics, sedatives, antipsychotics and anti-anxiety drugs while on duty in 2011.3

My spouse works in military mental health. Based on our conversations, I'd say that the problem hasn't gotten any better. Yet the solution isn't to boot everyone on psych meds if they are able to function effectively when medicated. We have to take the society we are handed and work with that. Singling out trans individuals on the medication front while ignoring the medication front (particularly psych meds) for a much larger subset of the military is interesting IMO.

Did you know that the US Military is enthusiastically (and frequently) performing gender reassignment surgery on active-duty service members using your tax dollars?
The Pentagon has spent $15 million in the past five years to treat 1,892 transgender troops, including $11.5 million for psychotherapy and $3.1 million for surgeries, according to Defense Department data provided to Military.com

Of the 243 gender reassignment surgeries performed on military personnel since 2016, 50 took place between Jan. 1, 2016 and Dec. 31, 2017, and 193 occurred from Jan. 1, 2018 to Dec. 31, 2019 -- the two years after President Donald Trump announced via Twitter that he would bar transgender individuals from serving in the U.S. military.

The total number of transgender persons serving in the armed forces across all three components -- active-duty, Reserve and National Guard -- is not known as not all likely have sought treatment.
A maximum estimate of 10,790 and a minimum of 2,150.

Anybody who has spent any amount of time in the military understands that leadership tracks anything and everything, even to the point of near degradation of the mission. They spend an amazing amount of man hours each and every week tracking data points.

One example is Covid vaccination tracking. I was sitting in an important operational meeting, and they pulled some Admin personnel out to go and update the numbers of who was vaccinated and who was not.

But isn’t it odd that one of these two things exist:

1) Either they don’t know how many trans people there are currently in the military and they don’t know how much money was spent to treat them

Or

2) They know exactly how many and how much they’ve spent, but they are deliberately with holding that information.

Based on my 30+ years of experience, it would greatly surprise me if they really didn’t know.

So if my assumption is right, why would they be so close hold on this information?

Because they don’t want the public to know because it would outrage voters.

Are these Trans service members even deployable to combat?

If not, why not and how does that benefit the US military and the American taxpayer?

The way things are looking, the US military needs to get ready for a fight.
