In California, a city of 100,000 is probably considered a small town.

There is no reason a California family can't make a nice home in Mississippi. I can't imagine anyone coming from California expecting to find some version of California here. But if they come and want to, for example, buy some land and engage in a lifestyle that is a little closer to nature then I think they would do very well.

Things grow here! We have plenty of water and a long growing season. So buy a few acres, build a modest house, keep a garden and some animals and enjoy your life. It really is that simple.

Same for New Yorkers. Know a guy in East Tennessee who's moving to Kentucky because New Yorkers are ruining East Tennessee.

Unfortunately, this is the exception, not the rule. Mississippi is one of only three states to lose population between 2010 and 2020. That trend does not seem to be reversing.

Yep, I know of whom you speak. I guess I didn't realize he's as well known as he is.

Who is the guy, or should it be kept a secret?

Most of the states complaining about the influx of Californians are the southwest states with very similar weather to Ca., and the biggest reason for the complaints (I live in southwest Utah so I speak with some experience), is that they are coming in with California money so our prices go sky high, and California ideas and politics, which don't sit well with the locals.

To be completely honest it's not just Californians, but they seem to get the blame. Regardless, be careful what you wish for, you too could find yourself priced out of the area you live in.
