Has anyone seen this picture? They say it's the "MOST UNIQUE PICTURE EVER TAKEN". It's a photo of fifteen of the top names of the old west. You can find it by Googling "The Gathering" 1883. I hope I'm not the only one interested in history and "DRYER LINT." genoatradingcompany.com/posterclose.htm

It's believed to be fake...read this.

For one, if the photo was taken in 1883, then that can't be Morgan Earp in the photo because he was murdered in March 1882 and it is very doubtful Doc Holliday left Colorado from 1882 until his death. Plus, did you noticed they misspelled both the last name "Erp" and "Holiday" (the former has an 'a' in it, and the latter two l's).

But Jason Leaf believes it to be real, you can read his explanation as to why here.

You can also read more about the photo here (http://members.shaw.ca/huntershotsprings/page-4.html - broken link), it does a good job of analyzing each of the alleged members of the picture. They conclude that:

- #1 is rancher A. A. Rich
- #2 is unidentified
- #3 is lawyer John Savage
- #4 is unidentified
- #5 is unidentified
- #6 may or may not be Liver Eating Johnston
- #7 is Rich Hotel owner Frank Rich
- #8 is unknown but appears in other photos with John Savage
- #9 is unidentified
- #10 is unidentified
- #11 is unidentified
- #12 is NPR brakeman Harry Britton
- #13 is unidentified
- #14 is unidentified, and
- #15 is HHS Hotel owner C. B. Mendenhall

Hope that doesn't bust your bubble!

By the way, you can view a good copy of the picture here (http://members.shaw.ca/huntershotsprings/hhs1.html - broken link).

Cheers! M2

What a great picture. I had no idea that all those famous people had gathered at anytime. they are so diverse in what happened to them in later years. Outlaws and President, and Lawmen, all in one place. National security was an issue back then I guess.
I wonder if they saved thier belly button lint for the camp fires.

I loved the picture, who cares if it is a hoax or not. I want to believe it, maybe there is a tooth fairy. I also believe in Santa Clause.

I purchased a copyu of the photo. I have no idea if it is real or not, and frankly I don't care. The photo may or may not be real, but I plan to do a lot of reaserch on the individuals that are claimed to be in it. If it were real, what a gathering, if it isn't, still a great photo to hang on my wall.
