Almost an orchestral intro to the Four Tops (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch) I Can't Help Myself. Heh, other than that, don't know!

Not a quartet, a solo artist.
1970's.

It's Billy Ocean's first song, Love Really Hurts Without You, 1976. Lay that rep money on me Howie, lol.

Hey, can you splice songs into a string and make a puzzle, like in that one WKRP/Cincinnati episode? Take little half second clips of 6 or 10 songs and see if we can guess them, and you tell us how many we got right until we get them all? That would be awesome, if you took clips from somewhat popular songs, so we would have a small chance of getting them right and winning 5K rep points from Johnny Fever, thus bankrupting city data budget and causing me to become part owner of the company. Yeah, that would be fun.

Yes but 4 splices may take 20 minutes to create the final product. Maybe faster once you have all 4 spliced, then you are only dealing with 1 file. Change that 20 minutes to 10-12 minutes.

A puzzle is a good category. Tiny audio clips might be too difficult? Lyrics let people go to Google and search the 2-3-4 word lyrics = no challenge.
-------------------------------------------------
It's about 5 minutes with my process that involves nothing but free programs.

This one is a "name the tune" and sadly it is very easy with too many lyrics.

Not 100% sure if this all worked out like I was intending, but here goes nothing:

Is that a 5 song puzzle?
I think I know two of them and the other three will never be recognized by me.
I listen only to before 1980. Mine on this thread are always dated before 1980.

You may want to start a new thread for puzzle audios since yours will be far more difficult.

Send me names of the programs you used. It might save me a step or two for my "name the tune."

Yes.

These are all 1980 and before.

1) 1980
2) 1976
3) 1978
4) 1970
5) 1975

I may start a new thread.

Just testing it out, because my pc at work is terrible.

I can't listen/watch videos on it so wasn't sure if it would work or not.

Seems like it must have!!

I pretty much used the same programs you did, except i didn't have to download songs from Youtube, I just used mp3 files already in my library..

Chadgates,

The first one is Rush - Tom Sawyer (his favorite because it uses up half the puzzle)
Second one is Aerosmith - Last Child
Third one ????
Fourth One - FREE - Alright Now
Fifth One - Paul McCartney - Listen to What the Man Says

I don't know the last one Howard posted either. I like the concept of this thread howard, I appreciate the work and time you put into these, and Nema too, I like the Canadian polls.

I like your puzzle chadgates, what I said about half second clips might be a little tough, but if you picked just the right spot in a very recognizable song, I bet people could still guess the song.

Not Tom Sawyer.

The reason it is long is because the solo goes on for a long time, and I didn't want to stop it in the middle of the solo.

The rest are correct.

#3 is a bit more obscure, but no doubt you've heard it before.

To avoid having the thread hijacked any further I will start my own thread.

Your 1/2 second clip idea is also doable, and I have heard that type of clip before for radio contests. They splice like 20 songs together in a 30 second clip.

I'll see what I can come up with. (In another thread of course Howard!)
