Hi,

New here! Im looking for a rural-ish town in NJ with an under commute time of 2 hours one way to NYC. We've been on the hunt for a home and really like the Sussex area, but not sure if google maps is giving us a realistic commute time. I would really appreciate all the help I can get here...Thanks in advance!

Almost anywhere in Southern Monmouth and nearby Ocean counties. I live in Howell, and I would say it fits your requirements.

Is this a daily commute? 2 Hours 1 way is a brutal commute but there are some people I know in our area who do it, were in Jefferson Township. Hardyston to Penn Station via the 194 bus line is about 90 minutes if you catch the first 2 buses, after that traffic starts to build up. However, if it rains, snows, or any accidents it’s a 3 hour journey

You want rural but commuting to Brooklyn? Go look in eastern Suffolk County on Long Island or get a new job. Even that commute will majorly suck. Not to be crass and rude, but considering a Sussex County to Brooklyn commute? What the hell is wrong with people?

Sussex County to Brooklyn is absolutely insane. Just to put things in perspective, I know a guy that commutes from Hardyston (Sussex County) to Newark and it generally takes him about 90 minutes. Tack on an additional 60-90 minutes and you're looking at close to 3 hours to Brooklyn.

Commuting to Brooklyn for work. Would prefer a rural setting for our living situation. Google Maps indicated sussex county was 90 minutes from Brooklyn (one way). I wanted to check if its really that from people who would know. We plan on at least a 3-4 times a week commute. We really do mind a solid 1.5 hr commute one way, but anything more would be too much for us.

Yeah, it’s 90 minutes...if you leave at 3:00 AM.
