Those opening are mostly just one off's. Someone dropped out of an appointment, and when you click for the opening its 1 time slot at 2:15pm on a Tuesday afternoon, and the next appointment available is in 44 days.

Anyway, the whole point is that this is just not an effective system for the people. When you go there its great, because there are no other customers. When I picked up my license plate, the ratio was 6 workers for 1 customer.

I just looked into the appointment scheduler, and for Title renewals I was able to find an appointment within 10 days at every single location. For license renewal, almost every location has an appointment within 2 days, most have for next day. Real ID is the only outlier but then it is not an emergency or critical service, it could be planned ahead of time, unlike Title transfers or DL out of state transfers, or reissuances due to lost DLs. So it fully makes sense if Real ID appointments are not prioritized, and available until a month out.

You're right. Looks like it's shut down for real ID - nothing available and it only goes through March.

some centers are licensing only and not everyone can take a day off of work, drive 45+ minutes each way just to be told by some surly clerk that they have to come back with the tip of a unicorn horn to register their vehicle.

That would just be common sense. Have to remember the people who run these agencies dont earn the right to be there, but are given it. E.g some developer donates $10 million to Murphy political campaign and as an additional favor asked to have their nephew to run the DMV.

I just checked and see 16 MVC locations across the state with available date of tomorrow for title & registration appointment, so availability does not seem to be an issue currently. And I see this repeating concern about DMV asking for documentation, but for some reason I've never had the misfortune of not having what they asked for. I usually carry more documents than they ask for, you know just in case, and that always seems to work.
