Thanks all for the help. Especially the stats on usa.com.

The well known restaurant was just anecdotal, but it was a prominent town feature since I've been researching from afar. I'm more interested in Denville & nearby because of the lake communities, location near family and transportation links. So much thanks for the pointers to Parsippany.

The reason probably singled out Denville, is because there is a famous Chinese Restaurant there. The restaurant is regularly in the news, media for their ambience and food.

Denville is a great town to live. The lake communities drive a real community environment, you're likely to be friends with your neighbors and have an active social life in the neighborhoods. As a result of this, people never leave the area or sometimes retire to the area.

There is not. When I lived there, it was less than 1% Asian. The numbers have risen since but it is still a majority white town.

Look around the Troy hills area of Parsippany and eastward.

Denville is a great town btw. I still own a home there (my starter home) and I liked the town enough that I plan on keeping it for retirement.

Jasper on Rt 46 buses in workers from Brooklyn. We've talked to them.

They're closed.

You're correct though. Restaurants/take out places do bus/car pool in employees.

There are still a lot of Chinese in Parsippany/Montville though.

But they are of the 'came to US to get their education/well off' variety and wouldn't be working in a Chinese restaurant.

You can live around Edison and not speak a lick of English and live pretty well. There's enough places to work/food/markets/salons/entertainment.

Yeah you're right probably somewhere from New York. The ones at Hunan Taste all wear suits, and their English is more proficient so they might come from a different part of China. The regular Chinese restaurants that are in every town, the people come from a certain region in China.

The only reason I know about the Chinese vans is that there was a horrible accident on 287 a few year back, where there was cows all over the highway, and one of the vans hit a cow and flipped over and some of the workers died.

I would say the majority are bused in from Brooklyn, or car pool from the Edison area.

Chinese restaurants are in a bit of trouble.

GrubHub and Uber Eats have hobbled take out places because now there's so many options for delivery. And buffets have yet to recover from COVID.
