I say everything below Mercer and Monmouth counties are South Jersey, everything else is north. If you look at the map, the land size looks almost equal to the naked eye. I never knew that "Central Jersey" was even a thing. If North Jersey calls it Taylor Ham, and South Jersey calls it pork roll, what does Central Jersey call it

Came from North Jersey in Essex County moved to Central Jersey in Manalapan always called it Taylor Ham.
I think what we are learning from this is nobody wants to claim Union, elizabeth, linden and other parts in their part of the state
Those are all clearly North Jersey no discussion at all. They basically border Newark how could they possible be Central. Some areas to the West might be considered Central. It's not aligned by latitude only for some areas.

Rt. 78 is the official cutoff. There is major difference between Summit, NJ and Clark, NJ. Summit, Berkley Heights and New Providence should be absorbed by Morris County.
In addition to the county line, there is a clear difference in climate, soil and vegetation in Union county that aligns itself with Central, NJ rather than North Jersey. Pull up the topographical map and you will clearly see that most of union belongs with central, nj and probably the reason rt. 78 was also built where it is.

There is a major difference between Livingston and Newark. So what that doesn't mean they don't both belong in North Jersey. Climate difference? Don't think so. You get more snow in higher elevations of the state but to say the climate is different well I can't agree with that. It might be 10 degrees colder in Hopatcong than Newark on a cold day but that doesn't mean they both don't belong in the same county. Same trees you might get more clay in one area than the other doesn't mean it in a different section of the state.
Who cares what county Summit Berkeley Heights and New Providence are in?
