This is a great time of year to be in the Duke City with our unique traditions, and I thought I'd post this song as Christmas gets closer.

The song is, "The Lights of Albuquerque", by Jim Glaser. It came out around 1985, and every time I hear it I think of home. It sums up how many feel about Burque and may even make some feel homesick. Personally, I love this song and think Jim is a hell of a singer.

I am sure a lot of you have heard this song before. If you have not, then I believe you are in for a real treat...

The Lights of Albuquerque

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Default Favorite New Mexico Song

What's your favorite song about New Mexico? I'm going with The Lights of Albuquerque, although I realize there are a bunch to choose from.

Paul

My vote goes to Michael Martin Murphy for "Land Of Enchantment". From the lp "Land Of Enchantment", released in 1989 on the Warner Bros. label. Great song!

Josh Paulson's 'Sandia Crest' is awesome...more about a relationship, but still awesome. And of course anything by Rod Taylor because I've known him since I was super tiny and he's great.

New Mexico Song:

I'm from the land of dusty roads
Rattlesnakes and horny toads
It never rains
It never snows
But the wind it always blows.

New Mexico I love you so
I love you so, New Mexico

I'm from the land of dusty roads
Rattlesnakes and horny toads.

My favorite is Hearts and Bones by Paul Simon. I realize that this song is not specifically about NM, but it does reference NM.

"One and one-half wandering Jews
Free to wander wherever they choose
Are travelling together
In the Sangre de Cristo
The Blood of Christ Mountains
Of New Mexico
On the last leg of the journey
They started a long time ago
The arc of a love affair
Rainbows in the high desert air
Mountain passes slipping into stones"
