I was on the river (canoeing) yesterday and there were dozens and dozens and dozens of balloons all around us at varying altitudes and distances from way off to close enough to talk to the pilots and crews.
Some showoffs even did 'splash and dashes' just yards away, one even brushing the bottom of the gondola on of my friend's canoe; no damage done :-). A couple of balloons actually landed next to our picnic on a sandbar in the middle of the river, so of course we offered them some coffee in exchange for pins, then they took off again. It was an incredible experience.
