It has been told to me by a old friend who works in LA as a script writer that Wilmington is good for films with finite budgets. They may use non union/scale labor/talent and this saves them a fortune when making a movie.
Although anyone they bring to NC usually is on union scale/contract the extras, craftsman, contractors and other locals who are hired in NC are not bound by unions. Of course this can also be a not so great thing Brandon Lee (Bruce Lee's son) was accidentally killed by a gunshot wound from a faulty prop revolver in 1993. This was blamed on the propmaster being non union and an amateur, Here is hoping that the local talent got better since then.
"Gospel Hill" soon to be filmed. Casting call for UNPAID xtras today and tomorrow in Rock Hill (Clt was yesterday).
