I've always been a fan of rural hub cities like Jamestown. I'm from Iowa, and if I HAD to, I could live in Jamestown. There is Sprint coverage there, and low traffic, so those are pluses.
I don't like that there's only Wal-Mart to shop at (Kmart closed in 2013), and there isn't a Starbucks for 100 miles (Bismarck or Fargo), so I think Jamestown would be a strike on the list for me. But you aren't a retail nut like I am. I'm sure the people are nice, schools are great, and the neighborhoods are quiet.
But with me, a decent mall is a must. The town I live in must be within 50 miles of a super regional mall with stores that are shoppable (not Rue21, Maurices, Bath & Body Works, JCPenney (I like JCPenney, but you can only shop there so much), Riddle's Jewelry, etc.)...I want a Starbucks, Express, Apple Computers, Brookstone, Sprint store, etc.)
Lots of things I would miss. I had to put off my move due to a health concern. I have since received more offers and continue to look for small pet friendly housing daily. Lots of coffee choices in WA but good coffee is available in Jamestown. I don't care much for shopping unless it's books or old things. My needs are simple and when they aren't quick trip or internet. I will miss Trader Joe's but there are tradeoffs. One thing I will not trade are my furry family members so I hope to find housing.
I want very much to go and be one of the much needed employees and I can't wait to reconnect with family. But, these employees need places to live!
