Many think they are safe from the virus, until they are not.

Ohio or individual communities could step up compliance by issuing warnings, then graduated fines, as is the practice in Italy and elsewhere for those who ignore the social distancing guidelines.
Other than buying food and walking the dogs, we stay inside or on the porch, for fresh air. During walks, we must walk the dogs - when we pass people, we wave - no more "stop and chats". I hope we don't come off as standoffish, but we can't risk it.

I have seen neighbors, in their late 60s and 70s, talking - and not six feet away. I also know a professional couple who had their daughters, their husbands, and six grandchildren visit for Easter.

She is originally from NJ, and came here for Case Western Reserve over 35 years ago, and met her husband. It seems as though many people have a false sense of security in OH.
Yes, Ohioans are in general, less uptight than Easterners. and no, we are not New York, New Jersey or other hard-hit states, but I think that we would do well to at least follow the governer's informed and reasonable warnings.

The example I gave of the two CWR grads, both professionals, having a house full of people on Easter, is unfortunately not an isolated one. I know of several others.

What is your take on people's lack of response by people in Ohio? Many seem to think that there are "exclusions for family members", although we have been told that this is not so.

Even before Corona I was a habitual second guesser of my conversations, always wondering if I had mistakenly offended or didn't convey my message properly. Social distancing certainly hasn't helped that! It's hard to stay unnaturally far away and feel like you haven't been rude in some way.

If it's any comfort to you, I haven't felt like anyone has been rude on the other end of things. Hopefully it's all in our heads.
