Our son is 4. Is Norman family-friendly?

Very family friendly.

Norman doesn't have the small town (city) charm it once had because the traffic has gotten much worse. That is the only drawback to me.

Norman is a liberal college town.

The college keeps a woman-hitting football player, one who is seen smacking her straight into the floor, then casually walking away, but expels a group of frat kids who use the N word while singing a song off campus.

No more need be said.

Correction: The college keeps a woman-hitting football player (that was hit, spat on and called the "N" word by said woman first), one who is seen smacking her straight into the floor, then casually walking away, but expels a group of (racist and privileged) frat kids who use the N word while singing a song off campus.

(Now) No more need be said.

You posted that Lawton is a place close to family and that your rental budget is rather tight. Norman being a college town - inexpensive rentals are very hard to come by.

looks like some OU fans need to watch the video now that's it's come out. Their version of the facts is pretty far off.

Yes. It's also very tornado-friendly.

I just saw the video and would think twice about moving to a town that allows this.

It wasn't "allowed". Kid was charged, plead guilty and was sentenced. The fact that he was actually assaulted first and the fact that he had just turned 18 the day before and had no previous criminal record played into the fact into the fact that they didn't lock him up for 20 years.
