You can poke at Omaha for a lot of things, but Omaha actually has a fascinating history - Lewis & Clark, the transcontinental railroad, Warren Buffett, the College World Series, etc.

I'm sure it does, but if you look at metro sizes, it's simply foolish to compare Omaha and Tampa.

Tampa is closing in on 2.8 million and Omaha is still not even 900,000. Lincoln is almost an hour away, I have seen some on this forum try to claim it to add on population but it's really not part of the same metro when they are that far apart with no urban agglomeration in between.

As of 2010
Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL MSA 2,783,243
Omaha-Council Bluffs, NE-IA MSA 865,350

No one ever compared Tampa to Omaha. If you look back , the original comparison was Tampa to LA. Thanks.

Bull****. History? Are you even remotely aware of Omaha's history? If anything, they have more of it than Tampa. The waterfront and tropical setting are certainly nice, but completely subjective. Personally, I am miss the hills of Omaha and the seasons, so that doesn't do much for me. Also, the best waterfronts are over in Pinellas County, not Tampa. Nightlife is debatable. Omaha doesn't have anything real wild like Ybor City (and I really like Ybor) but everything else is fairly equal.

I don't make it a point to explore ghettos. Every city has them.
Then why try to use it as a strike against one city and not another? How is that logical?

Even look at shopping. Take International Plaza for example, now compare all of Omaha's shopping to International Plaza.
I've been to International Plaza many times, as recently as about two weeks ago as a matter of fact. It is a nice mall, no doubt, but certainly nothing all that grand. Westroads isn't as nice, but pretty close.

I've noticed on here, it's almost the in thing to do to hate all sunbelt cities.
I don't see any hate. I see a group of people (we have, literally, about 4 or 5 of us) who have lived in both cities and prefer Omaha for various reasons. I think we all respect Tampa and enjoy it for the city it is though.

Now compare just the cities and not the metros, then get back to me.
