I have serious doubts about a guy like Pastor Ken Silva, whose main mission in life seems to be to criticize and attack other Christians he doesn't agree with. Does he really think that's the work Jesus intended him to devote his life to?

he is using discernment. there is a difference.

it is like asking tough questions or raising concerns about something or doing some research

in fact we are told in 1 John 4:1 to use discernment.

Right. I understand that.

But we also need to admit that we all have our biases, and that they cloud our discernment.

I also think it behooves us to admit that we can become fixated on the wrong things.

Most people I know (that go to church) seem to go to Trinity, around 156th and Dodge. A few go to one that I found to be very odd - Unity near 90th and Maple. But there are a LOT more, obviously.
Of course, only you can decide which church is right for you. Just try a bunch of them out.

You have issues with him naming names? You mean like the apostle Paul did?

I have issues with him assuming a position of superiority, and ultimate authority - then naming names.

For Ken Silva to assume that he - from his background and bias - is completely right and everyone else is completely wrong, is rather arrogant. Being a critic & taking pot-shots at people is easy. Anybody can do it.

Also, to equate Ken Silva to the Apostle Paul is pretty flimsy.

I agree with you, but unfortunately, believing one is 100% correct and others are 100% wrong is a core problem with most religions.

Aren't you doing the very thing you're chastising Silva for?

Nope. Not at all.

I don't devote my time, self and life to criticizing a select few people I disagree with - nor do I have a website devoted to running people down.

So no, the comparison is not very accurate.

Instead you go on message boards and criticize them. The difference is that he owns his own site and you don't. You should strive to be more tolerant.
