Hello all,

I live in Lincoln and attend Lincoln Berean Church. I'm most likely moving to Omaha soon for work. It doesn't have to be a berean church but I am looking for a non denominational church. Anyone familiar with Lincoln Berean probably knows it's huge and has Saturday night services. I'd really like to find a large church like Lincoln Berean. Thanks

A Berean Church is a fairly conservative, evangelical church, right?

If you're in West Omaha, I'd suggest Stonebridge Christian Church. It's just north of Maple on 156th St. If you're in Bellevue, I'd suggest Calvary Christian Church - just west of Hwy 75 on Cornhusker.

Both of those churches are large, and very active, as well as being conservative evangelical churches.

Is location an issue?

If you're looking for a large church, there are a few--Christ Community, Trinity and Westside. Stonebridge is growing a bit bigger--largely from people migrating from ccc and westside. Brookside is an E Free church. They all serve a purpose, and have their own focus. None of them are really all that conservative.

Trinity is probably more charismatic than you're used to.

I've got friends at CCC that take bets on how long into the sermon until the pastor starts crying.

Westside I know very little about...heard some criticism of them as of lately, but can't personally speak about.

Not all that familiar with Brookside, but I just got the impression that they are really kind of seeker-oriented when we visited there. The worship team was mainly composed of people that had been at CCC previously.

thanks go ne

never been to Brookside but I know it is for some reason a willow creek assocation church Willow Creek Association - Find A Church

wca churches tend to be somewhat seeker-driven. the one in Bellevue that omaha rocks is okay btw, but some of the others I have been to are a bit watered down when it comes to their sermons

trinity and christ community both promote mysticism that Pete Scazerro and Dallas Willard pushes and pushes new-age stuff like contemplative prayer
i would avoid them. churches shouldnt be pushing Pete Scazerro or Dallas Willard and their new-age occult mysticism.

btw: to trinity and christ community members, listen to the radio show at:

Oh Good Lord! This is one of the reasons I quit posting here! I've attended CCC for years, I don't remember any of the Pastor's crying during services! There have been times during funerals, especially those of young people, where, yes, tears have been shed. But thank God our Pastors are men of compassion!

Why in the world anyone would think that is beyond me! He has opinions, and they are just that, opinions! What church does the expert attend? I never hear a mention of recommending his own church.
We are not into "mysticism", so billiefan, please get your facts straight for a change.

I'm so sick of reading your negative posts! You post all these links to any and every story that makes Omaha look bad! If people can get on the net to read here, then they can get on the net and visit all our local news sites!

Yeah, I know this doesn't sound like someone with a Christian heart, but sometimes the human side just gets the best of me!

I post a lot of positive stories here and elsewhere

got 2 questions:

why is your church promoting Pete Scazerro, a man who is heavily into pushing mysticism on the church?

(dont believe me, the listen to the radio show at Fighting for the Faith: Purpose-Driven Monastic Mysticism?

also, why does your church promote Dallas Willard, a man who promotes a new-age teaching called contemplative prayer

(see) http://cccomaha.org/news-feed-catego...?tag=electives

any church that promotes the new-age teachings of Dallas Willard and John Ortberg and Pete Scazerro might as well be endorsing Oprah Winfrey 's new-age beliefs also,

cause Oprah promotes similar things that Pete and John and Dallas all do.

The previous guy wasn't the type that would cry on command to make a point. The current one appears to be. I haven't seen it--just going on what my friends (who have been there for 10+ years) have told me. It would be helpful if someone that attends there would corroborate it...but I haven't seen it firsthand.
