I fully support legislation banning some people from owning any type of pet.

Hello Omaha!
I know there are lovers of pit bulls but they are very aggressive dogs. Miami Dade county Florida has banned pitt bulls and all forms of their pedigrees since 1989 after a vicious attack on a 3 year old playing in his own yard. The pitt jumped the fence of his neighbor's yard and basically chewed of more than half of this toddler's scalp before police arrived and literally had to shoot the dog in the head to let go.

Florida allows pit bulls and a law was passed not to discriminate against certain breeds although they "grandfathered" in the law for Miami. If you are found with a pitbull in Miami you face a $500 fine and upto 6 months in jail due posession plus putting the dog to sleep. Most pits get transferred to other counties instead of putting them to sleep unless they have mauled or attacked. We have had no pit bull attacks in Miami since since the law was passed in 1989. Denver is another city that has also banned pitts.

PS: It doesn't matter how much pressure a dog and his jaws have but the propensity of pitbulls not letting go once they bite.

I remember Cesar Milan's late pit bull "Daddy, " and he always seemed to be the mellowest dog I ever saw. But the pits in my local shelter scare me. But most of them come from dogfighting operations.
