If you're in Pensacola Beach already, there is no need to travel away from there for an excellent beach. Pensacola Beach is lovely as it is. The beaches are best, in my opinion, along HWY 30A, but that's east of Sandestin and ~2 hours drive from Pensacola. If you want less of a crowd, skip Casino beach and the immediate areas on either side - go west to Ft. Pickens or east to the public access across from the Portofino resort.
