It is pretty white here, but we wanted to retire to the beach. Lived in Atlanta for over 30 years - a very diversified place.

Is CRT inherently racist?

Some people say that it simply teaches people about America's history without white-washing it and ignoring redlining, the Black Codes, Jim Crow, Native American issues, slavery etc.

Others say that it unfairly paints white America as evil, preaches the positives of communism and stirs up division and hatred amongst different groups.


If CRT had to be taught........what would you include and what would you remove?

In other words, the overthrowing of the Czar and the subsequent Bolshevik revolution weren't exactly efforts to "conserve"...

Similarly, the fall and breakup of the Soviet Union also was not a "conservative" effort...

Considering the fact that Russia has gone through at least two *epic*, earth-shattering revolutions over the past ~100 years, I wouldn't exactly call their politics "conservative".

You know the opposite of liberal is not necessarily "conservative" right? Although Russia is pretty damn conservative, but that's besides the point.

Also, liberal is not the same as "leftist."

The fundamental tenets of critical race theory are simple and are as follows:

1) race is a social construction
2) the laws and institutions of the US have been designed to protect the "white race" and oppress all other "races"

They don't like to call it "critical race theory" because they don't want to show their hand, but everything that is taught in history and social studies classes is based on these twin tenets and has been for quite some time.

Black people have been, and still are to more subtle (and not so subtle) degrees, systemically oppressed on this land since they been brought across the Atlantic. Why would you not want to teach that, which is a clear and obvious truth?

In this country you used to be able to legally own people of a certain race and force them into labour, and until recently, like very recently, within the lifetimes of too many posters on this site, did not have equal rights. And to this day via double standards and unfair biases, are still experiencing a lot of unjustices.

You don't need white guilt to see that. You don't need to be a "liberal" to admit that. You just have to be honest. White America loves to sweep its hypocrisies under the rug and pretend they're all in the past. They're coming out to bite and y'all don't like it.

It is okay to be confronted with the awful crap that has and is still happening. Be part of the solution not the problem.

I can show you a moron who stormed the Capitol on Jan 6th and say that's representative of all or most conservatives, but I am educated enough to know that's not true either. Whackos exist on all sides.
