Here we go again, moved from ft myers florida 5 years ago to northern arizona, lets say i love it here but my son and grandkids want grannie back to florida. sooooo. here we go again. Personally never been to florida panhandle but everywhere else. I have alot of questions so any help is very appreciated. My son is a marine and will be retiring in 1,5 years he lives in holt, florida. So would like to be within 40 minutes of him. I do not wAnt the beach rarely went in sw florida. We left sw florida do to the crime, it was very bad. below is a list of wants and don't wants.
wants.
1, must be safe area, no one following me in publix etc
2. we need at least 1 acre property more private the better we breed dogs, prefer more
3. don't want alabama at all.
4. would like to be close to hospital we are both 60, healthy but still
5. would be prefer area with wildlife, deer etc, we live where deer are here daily and love it
6. close to good quality groceries, whole foods, fresh market etc.

don't wants
1. no flood zones, do i need to worry about tornados, if so do you need a brick home or shelter.
2. less skeeters the better, they love my blood for some reason.
3. no papermills or pollution if possible
4. don't want air traffic or road noise daily
5. not over 2 hours to a decent airport.

when is best time to buy a home, i see military move alot during summer, is fall best, no i don't have a realtor yet. i know all about humidity and traffic. thats not a problem. do i need to worry about poisonous snakes on property. thanks everyone. Mary

Navarre is right at 40 minutes, depending on how far west you go.

Pace/Milton is probably your best option as it's an easy interstate jump to Holt.

Doesn't exist anymore, and will not in the future if you examine population shift patterns. My opinion is to stay put.

Can you explain why you thought SW Florida was crime-ridden?

cause i lived there, daily saw thugs driving around looking for victims, my business broke into several times, getting followed in grocery stores, i never went to walmart for a reason, seeing people handcuffed outside stores from crimes. they keep alot quiet there to avoid tourist going elsewhere. no thanks

Why wouldn't you consider Alabama? Just curious. There are some nice areas in the vicinity of the FL-AL line.

The smell has more to do with the weather/wind than it does location. Everywhere in Cantonment will be subject to the smell at some time or another.
