CrowGirl, I thought "contrast" was quite a challenge. I'm not sure I ever really got it, but I loved the ambiguity of the theme.
OK, a suggestion for August - "Favorite Song". Submit a shot that would make the perfect jacket cover for your favorite song. Photo Title=Song Title. Include a few lines of lyrics if it helps to relate your photo to the song. Thoughts or other suggestions?

I like it....I struggled horribly over coming up with a theme....I think I'll hold off entering again until I have a good one on ice!!
No! Don't do that! I thoroughly enjoy your photographs, and IMO it was an excellent theme. When I'm shooting, my creativity needs some serious stretching - I find myself trying to make the theme fit what I like to shoot, which is completely bass ackwards.
Is it just me, or has the participation seriously fallen off in here? I hope that's just a summer thing...

For me it is linked to Summer. I get so darn busy, I forget to enter the contests until it is too late and the voting poll is up.
Every month this summer I have told myself I was going to be ready and not miss out on posting. Well, just look back the last few months and see how successful that has been.
When I read the theme for August I couldn't resist using one of my old favorites by Jim Stafford in 1974.
Some of the readers may not remember Wildwood Weed by Jim Stafford.
"The wildwood flower grew wild on the farm,
And we never knowed what it was called.
Some said it was a flower and some said it was weed,
I didn't give it much thought.
One day I was out there talking to my brother,
Reached down for a weed to chew on,
Things got fuzzy and things got blurry,
And then everything was gone!
(Didn't know what happened, but I knew it beat the hell out of sniffin' burlap.)
I come to and my brother was there,
And he said, "What's wrong with your eyes?"
I said, "I don't know, I was chewing on a weed."
He said, "Let me give it a try."
We spent the rest of that day and most of that night,
Trying to find my brother, Bill.
Caught up with him, 'bout six o'clock the next morning,
Naked, singing on the windmill.
(He said he flew up there. I had to fly up and get him down. He was about half crazy.)
The very next day we picked a bunch of them weeds,
And put 'em in the sun to dry.
Then we mashed 'em up and cleaned 'em off,
And put 'em in the corncob pipe.
Smokin' them wildwood flowers got to be a habit,
We didn't see no harm.
We thought it was kind of handy,
Take a trip and never leave the farm!
(Big ol' puff of the Wildwood Weed, next thing you know, you're just wandering around behind the little animals.)
All good things gotta come to an end,
And it's the same with the wildwood weeds.
One day this feller from Washington came by,
And he spied 'em and turned white as a sheet.
Well, they dug and they burned,
And they burned and they dug,
And they killed all our cute little weeds.
Then they drove away,
We just smiled and waved...
Sittin' there on that sack of seeds!
(Y'all come back now, hear?)"
