Imo, where you can submit more than one pic for the contest, it seems a bit moot to have all the pics in one thread and the discussion in another, since there are soooo many photos, that you are scrolling thru many pages anyway. There is no easy viewing! Jmho.
Having a thread of pictures and a seperate thread of discussions makes it easier for viewing the pictures to be voted on without viewing additional conversation of "great shot".... "oh, thank you" ..... "I like your pictures too" ..... Having a thread of pictures only, or discussion only, makes a difference of 5 pages of picture or 20 pages of pictures and discussion.
It's better have one pic after another in a clean thread that will be set up for voting, than a thread of one picture, 10 posts of conversation, then another someone's picture, 10 posts of conversation, and so on. Shepsmom's holiday assignment thread is of pictures and conversation like mostly all of the other threads.
