I have a Coolpix 995 from Nikon. I love it. A little pricy. But well worth it.

I love my Olympus D-595, it is a good camera for a point&shoot. The SP-510UZ is only 10X optical zoom, the new SP-550 UZ has an 18X optical zoom. I would rather have more optical zoom and less megapixels, if I were to buy a new camera it would be the EVOLT E-510

What are your main and secondary interests with the camera: people, nature, scenery, buildings, sports, ...?

Do you desire/prefer light weight [pocket size], or removable/interchangeable lens [SLR]?

Will you be making prints, if so what size?
If not, just for viewing on a computer, sharing via email, etc?

Is macro important?

Type of memory card?

Manual focus?

I have a Olympus D-510 zoom now for everyday shooting and it's a great camera.

Nature and scenery mostly daytime and evening shots.

Weight is not a factor.

Interchangeable lens is not criticle, but a possibility.

Manual/auto focus would be nice.

No macro closer than 2 -3 feet.

Printing to a max of 6 x 9

Leaning towards SD card.

Movie mode and sound is not important.

Great stablization (that works) is very important.

Bones

Really have had excellent results w/ my older Kodak model [DX6490], so based on that and what I see from your leanings, along w/ the very positive reviews I've seen on these, would recommend the Kodak Z612, Z710, or Z650. Have compared my images w/ the DX6490 to those from more expensive cameras and the detail, colour, and clarity of the Kodak has meet or even exceeded theirs. The only two negs I have on mine is the rotating dial to change for off/on and changing settings, and the lens cap, as it is not a secure 'snap-on' type.
