Default Fort Craig (New Mexico)

Fort Craig, located south of Socorro, New Mexico, was a military fort from the 1850s on through the 1880s and saw action during the Civil War (Battle of Valverde) and the Indian wars. It protected the Camino Real and the settlements along the Rio Grande and much of southwest New Mexico. It is maintained as a National Historic Site.

Rations? (It takes forever for something to rust in this climate.)

Commandant's quarters

Buffalo Soldiers were stationed here in the late 1860s. The Battle of Valverde took place across the Rio Grande in February, 1862.
