It's not tied to a religion, its from Greek mythology. Charon (the ferryman) makes you pay passage to cross the river Styx into the otherworld. In Ireland, my family has placed rocks on headstones. It just means that we were here to visit. Supposedly, a Jewish custom, but it may predate Judaism, since its be done in Gaeltacht (Irish speaking areas) of Ireland.

Elnina, another incredible shot. It looks so lush and so eerily dead at the same time. For some reason it reminds me of the area around the tower in the movie, "The Brothers Grimm." Fantastic. Going to be tough to follow up.

Thank you all Is just a lucky shot. Cemeteries in Poland are a bit different than here. Lots of trees, sometimes hills, small curvy paths, headstones of all shapes. One can easily get lost. This is an old Jewish cemetery - the plants took over the tombs, and sun going down created shadows and “creepy”, haunting spirit.
