I drive by this old place a few times a month now, and it always makes me wonder just why it has been empty and deteriorating for as long as I can remember. This is the house, barn and one of the out-buildings.
I know. Except for the porches that are falling in, the house as a whole sits as square as the day it was built. So does the barn, well house, garage, machine shop, and other buildings on the property. Built to last back then.

I agree, too nice looking a house to sit there empty. Wonder why?
For many years Klomino existed only on Russian military maps. In 1939 the Germans opened a POW camp here, in which in November 1939 there were some 6,000 Polish soldiers, as well as around 2,300 Polish civilians, arrested by the Wehrmacht during the invasion. In 1945 Around 6,000 Soviet soldiers lived there, and the parts of the former German base which were not needed any more were razed to the ground by the Red Army servicemen. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Russians pulled out in 1993. Since the Russians withdrew, Polish officials have been trying to figure out what to do with the village. The Nazi- and Soviet-era buildings have been abandoned and now the only sign that remains of the town's glory is the last wall of a collapsed movie theater adorned with colorful Soviet propaganda:
