Because they aren’t healthy. And, if she isn’t healthy or willing to take care of herself, do you really think they should be thinking about taking care of a baby? It’s like the O.P. is enabling her by thinking about her surrogate suggestion because of it. IMO, it should be a red flag to him to not have a baby with her at all. She should want to get healthy for herself & he needs to support that. But he is helping her create excuses around it.
