For me, I just want to be competitive in the divisional round. That would be enough for me to happy with the outcome of the 2023 season. Don't get blown out in the divisional like this past season and definitely don't continue to go backwards by not even making the divisional.

The Bills are a Super Bowl contender in the sense that they are one of a half dozen teams or so that has a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl. But they are not THE FAVORITE like they were last year basically. As long as Allen is on the team the Bills will likely always be one of those half dozen teams with a Super Bowl goal. But realistically, just don't go backwards like they have these last two years since their AFC Championship appearance.

Great article, it doesn't matter what you do in the regular season, its the playoffs that matter. The Bills looked awful against Cinci, at home no less. Other teams adjust and if your OC, DC or HC doesn't make the proper adjustments then you lose. Plain and simple. The great OC's adjust on the fly.

Buffalo Bills fans would enjoy this article on the trials and tribulations of Jim Kelly in today's The Athletic.

Some excerpts:

Quote:
Jim Kelly has lost a lot: Four straight Super Bowls, an upper jaw, and a son. He was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and endured over 20 surgeries. But the Bills legend hasn't lost all hope, thanks to his rediscovered spirituality.

The charisma and presence that once made him a leader of leaders is still there. His left fibula is not.

It was removed in 2018, broken into four pieces, and used to reconstruct his upper jaw which had been infested by squamous cell carcinoma. In a 12-hour surgery, arteries and blood vessels also were taken from his arm and moved to his jaw. A prosthesis with false teeth was implanted.

When the cancer was diagnosed, it was Stage 4. A doctor gave Kelly less than a 10 percent chance to beat it because it was so close to his brain.

The jaw surgery was one of four cancer surgeries and 20 surgeries overall, give or take. Kelly has two plates and 10 screws in his back as well as one plate and six screws in his neck. There’s a screw in his left knee and mesh in his abdomen where he had double hernia surgery twice.

Two years ago, Kelly had ankle replacement surgery, but the joint became badly infected. Last year doctors opened him again. He says it looked like lasagna and can provide graphic photographic proof. A second ankle replacement was necessary.

Much more in the article. Old age is not for sissies.

Whats going on with this thread? Where are all the Bills fans? That loss to the Broncos last night was a killer. 12 men on the field? What is this, high school?

Yeah, huge loss...could be one that you point back to if they end up missing the playoffs.

I'm a Broncos fan, and my son is a Bills fan. That was just an ugly game all around. The Bills are playing way below their talent level, but they just let Dorsey go (long overdue in my opinion). We'll see if that helps shake things up a bit.

The NY Times shares you opinion. Here it is:

Quote:
An impressively bad way to lose

I’m not sure eight hours is long enough to process how dumb of a football game we watched last night. Let’s be clear: The Broncos’ 24-22 win over the Bills was quite entertaining. But was it good football? Absolutely not.

Let’s just look at the final sequence:
Down one, Russell Wilson drove the Broncos into Bills territory but faced 3rd-and-10 from the Buffalo 45. Incomplete pass, but a defensive pass interference call moved the ball up 28 yards. Game over, right?

With the ball near chip-shot range, Wilson took three straight knees to set up one of the most stressful field goal attempts you’ll see. With no timeout, Denver rushed the kicking unit onto the field, lined up and saw Will Lutz miss a 41-yarder wide right.

Game over!

Wrong.

The Bills, caught up in the hysteria of the Broncos’ dysfunction, had 12 men on the field. After a five-yard penalty, Lutz nailed a 36-yard game-winner.

Denver is 4-5 after a three-game winning streak, but the focus will be on Buffalo today. A Super Bowl contender is now just 5-5, a team full of injuries and miscues. The Bills had four turnovers last night, each one more baffling than the previous.

Jeff Saturday was ranting today 11/19....that firing Dorsey was the wrong reaction after the last loss.

He pointed out that from the time Dorsey became the OC until his firing, only two teams over that period scored more points than the Bills (the Eagles and the Cowboys), and only one QB had a better QBR than Josh Allen (Mahomes).

Meaningless win over hapless Jets. Lets see what happens against some real teams now. Next 3 opponents are @Eagles, @Chiefs and Cowboys. 4 of 5 wins were against teams with losing records
