You think that's bad? I went to the post office in my suburb of Los Angeles to buy postage stamps (something I only buy every few years or so now). After waiting on line, I was told that they didn't sell them.
You can also make and print a shipping label at this website and give the package to your mail delivery person at home or the mail room at work or drop it in a blue mail box if small - never needing to go to the U.S. Post Office. https://www.usps.com

The DMV and the Post Office are the most miserable places anywhere.. Both are filled with sloths who could not care less about anything if their life depended on it.
I thought people with the post office work to the point of cracking from the stress.
My local PO is a little cramped but the personnel is pleasant. I am never happy waiting in a line, but my overall experience is fine. Unfortunately, if you have any business to transact, such as stopping your mail or picking up stopped mail you have to go to a different building and doing that is torture. The building is not designed for people to wait in line and the workers are often not terribly fluent in English. Parking is limited too. Our city needs a nice new PO, but in this climate of smaller government, I doubt we get one.
I buy stamps at retailers now, if I think we need them.
One thing that irritates me is how cold most restaurants are when the outside temps warm up. If you get seated close to an overhead AC vent you can get so cold you might get sick. And even if you don't get sick, you can be really uncomfortable.
