My condo area was vandalized by a resident. It was reported in an email by our HOA President. 2 people have come forward. One actually saw them to it. The other said they’re friends with them and they bragged about it. Both want to stay anonymous. No one but the President knows who these anonymous people are nor do we know who did this.
Is there anything we can do if they insist on remaining anonymous? The residents are frustrated because we will all ultimately have to pay the repairs.
Unfortunately, in a condo all residents share in expenses/repairs of common areas and unless it can be proven that a certain individual(s) committed the crime the entire condo will have to share the expense. Where was the damage/vandalism in the condo? What type of damage was done? Internal or external? If the two individuals who know the vandal(s) won't come forward, it would be difficult to get the perpetrators to pay for repairs. It would likely be considered hearsay otherwise. Your HOA should determine if this is covered by the HOA insurance policy if the damage is very costly/extensive.
Has the Association indicated they will be taking action against the offending owner?
During an investigation of events, damages and assessing responsibility, the Association elected officers may not be in a position to tell you who is providing information. But if the matter has been closed, you have aright to know what occurred, by whom and how damages are being assessed.
I had a feeling nothing can be done. It’s so sad that we have to pay for the behavior of irresponsible people. Especially knowing they live in our (otherwise beautiful) community.

Vandalism is covered by the association's master policy.
If the damage is less than the deductible it should be paid for by the association's general fund and nobody will be assessed anything.

That's step one. Then it's about recovery of those funds ... or at least the deep shaming of the guilty.

What is the feeling based upon? If your not privy to detailed information on the process, aren't you just blowing wind up your rear?
Chances are your state has regulations your HOA must follow. Most have a complaint form you can file with the state regarding an HOA. Usually the complaints are for over-reaching, but not doing due diligence could be a complaint to report. I couldn't tell what state you are in, but I would start there.
