I assumed they were worm-shaped ( vemicelli means "little worms" in Italian), but if you google, they are just chocolate jimmies, the kind you put on candies or cookies.
I have to admit I'm disappointed.

Recognize these?

https://www.sees.com/milk-chocolate/...ux/200349.html

If you've ever had the milk Bordeaux chocolates from See's Candies, you've had chocolate vermicelli. Here's some high-end vermicelli:

https://www.worldwidechocolate.com/s...rmicelli-dark/

It is like what we know as chocolate sprinkles, which you'll see in grocery stores or ice cream shops, except those chubby, waxy beads have no chocolate flavor at all compared to the vermicelli. The vermicelli are longer, thinner and more "elegant" if you will, for using as ornamentation on sweet treats, with the added bonus of being actual quality chocolate instead of those waxy things from the supermarket.

I hate being a chocolate snob - but it's like once you've had the real deal, the other stuff just pales in comparison. I can't even eat that waxy "sprinkles" stuff anymore.

You can buy smaller quantities on Amazon, I've had good results with a brand called India Tree.

ETA: As mentioned by steiconi, the "jimmies" they mention are the trash sprinkles and I agree are completely disappointing. Vermicelli compared to jimmies is like comparing a Ferarri to a Fiat.
