2goldens, I was confused too. I could be mistaken, but the amounts in the recipe, doesn't look
like it matches the amount of filling in the cake. I'm thinking I would have to at least make half again as much, as the recipe calls for.
Hopefully amberbaby will clear it up. I only want too make one mess.
If I had my druthers and to do it again. I would do the round cake pans. I did the 9x13 but.......my pretty cake holder thingy is for round ones. Plus they are easier to maneuver.
I was kind of making the flour and milk step and I was kind of worried. I don't recall making a white sauce for a cake. But it came out real good. Kind of like whipped topping but a little heavier. The icing I had a problem with. I firmly believe that it was the operator.
I added too much powdered sugar. So, it did not taste like anything but. Luckily, I had a can of chocolate syrup. All is well. But even with the icing as was, it was not enough to cover a 9x13 cake.

Yes crisco is in the can. Although I see Lacey covered that Thank you Lacey As for the pan I think it is prefrence. The recipe was sent to me by a girlfriend. Me, being on a diet have not tried it yet.. I plan to make this for my 40th bday next month. I am going to use rounds but I never follow directions to a tee ha ha! Ohhh I think I should look for a twinkie cake recipe mmmm.. My son would love that! Hopefully anyone who tries this Ding Dong cake likes it...
