I usually make it with butter and grated cheese or butter and shredded cheddar. What other ways do you make them? I want to try a sweet version like for a morning breakfast cereal.
I like them really thick, cooked with milk, a spoon of butter, a pinch of salt and little sugar. Pour into dessert bowls (rinsed with water).
When cooled off but not completely cold I like it with a swirl of real fruit syrup on the top.
(I eat sweet stuff for dessert not for breakfast)
I usually do butter and either grated cheese or shredded cheddar. I was thinking next time brown sugar, cinnamon and a touch of cream. I have only eaten grits with butter and cheese.

Flying Biscuit in Atlanta has some of the best grits anywhere.
Long cooking grits of course. NEVER instant or quick grits. If for breakfast, milk, water, butter, salt, and pepper. If for dinner, milk and stock, salt and pepper, cheddar and sometimes Parm R depending on what they are being served with. Sometimes I add a little heavy cream too besides the milk.
I buy a small amount of stone ground grits in a little sack for about $8. Butter, cream, cheese, hot sauce...yummmmmm.
