Regarding SDAs and the health message ...while I've been estranged from SDA circles for some time, it's my understanding that this health message is still promoted and that local health seminars are conducted occasionally. I do believe they also have a 'Quit Smoking' program, though I don't know if this is included in their health seminar for those who wish to participate.
I'm also not aware as to how the youth of the church feel about these kinds of health programs that their parents might have embraced. Some 20-plus years ago when I was the music leader of the youth, teens and the juniors at the annual SDA Big Camp, the elders would have no qualms occasionally taking the kids to McDonalds at the end of an evening meet. I'm pretty sure there was no 'health message' being promoted there. So, perhaps the health message has become or is becoming 'old hat' to the younger SDAs.
