Babyboomers2, you seem to have totally missed the part where I agreed with you and said your plan to sell your boat was smart.

Lake Lahontan, Pyramid Lake, Topaz Lake, Lake Tahoe all allow boats with gas engines and then right outside of Reno there is Stampede Reservoir in Northern California, plus many more a bit farther out. You can find all different kinds of boats to rent or ride on at Lake Tahoe, that's for sure!

Some people will putter around Washoe Lake, although that lake is mostly used by kite boarders and wind surfers now.

Small fishing boats are allowed on just about every lake around here and there are many, many lakes around.

Well said, and I would only add these are all lakes of the Great Basin where water never flows to an ocean. Most are well stocked with fish including Washoe Lake. Sad part of Lake Mead is Nevada doesn't get a fair share of it's water but that's a story for another day.

No, I got that. It was the part of your reply stating that we hadn't used our boat in several years, that I was correcting. As I replied, "last time we used it was in July of 2023. IOW, last year, not several years ago.

We don't really want to sell it, but "physically" speaking, taking care of it and launching/retrieving it from a lake, has taken its toll on our bodies. And, not only the "physical" aspect of boating, but taking it out on a weekend day is more or less impossible due to how many boaters are here and were in Colorado. My wife would have to take a day off of work during the week and not get paid for that day.

We are getting the boat/trailer all set up to sell on Boat Trader, but, due to its age, it won't be easy to sell here. From the boats we've seen being launched/retrieved at Lake Mead, people here don't want old/older boats.

There are boats, on trailers, at the Storage facility we keep ours inside Lake Mead Recreational Area, that look like they haven't been used in years. Some even have registration date decal on the bow that goes back years ago. To a point, the boats on trailers where our boat/trailer is, look like a "mothball" area aka "junk boat area". But, people keep paying each month to keep their boat/trailer there.

I would also list it on Facebook marketplace and Nextdoor. Both are really easy to use and I sold my old motorhome using those 2 sites.

We used Facebook Marketplace to sell our old 1997 Dodge RAM truck and got exactly the price we wanted. Nextdoor would be a good one as well. Thanks!

Lake Almanor in California is about 2 hours away from Reno. Beautiful, pretty quiet. Doable drive for people with a flexible schedule and vigor. Could be an occasional vacation choice for others.

Well, to say the least, our visit to both Carson City/Reno and the area will be interesting. All I know is that we have already started to box up (U-Haul Wardrobe) our winter clothes.

Just researched and found out that both Carson City and Fallon have a livestock auction. We have a website where we can see any "live" livestock auction going on each day/week. When we lived in Loveland, we went to the Centennial Livestock Auction a number of times to watch. We both loved watching cattle and sheep being auctioned off.
