^^ Yeah, I get it, it exists elsewhere under a different name. I'm not sure about the popularity in comparison to Rochester, but I get it. That wasn't my point. MY point was that I miss Rochester.
It's like if someone from Philly went to Rochester, came back, and told a story about how they said "water ice" and everyone looked at them weird. Yep, we have that under a different name, but they would still feel alienated and possibly a burst of hometown pride. That's my point.
I'm a bit late to the game on this topic, but I just visited Rochester this past weekend and had Chicken French at Lillian's in Penfield. Oh my goodness, it was amazing. Ten times better than the Chicken Francais that expensive restaurants serve in my part of the US. I was at an engagement party with people from all over the country and we were all impressed by the Chicken French. Lillians is this unassuming restaurant in a strip mall so I never expected great food.
