No, it had a guy's name. I think it was called "Johnny's" or "Joey's" or "Nicky's" or something like that. It was in the building on the corner of Kings & Woodlawn, across Woodlawn from the Centenary campus. Across Kings from Joe's and the Gold Dome.

I was in a young girls "marching group" called the dixie dolls around 1965. Wondering if anyone knows if pictures or movies were taken and where i might find some. Would love for my adult children to see a little history of their mom.
My childhood movies have been distroyed and i am trying to find childhood places and events. I was born in Shreveport in 1955 and lived there till college. Reading some of the postings brought back fond memories. I lived in the Broadmoor area ate at Cobbs, Southern Donuts, the old Strawn's, Lewis Pharmacy etc. So many memories.

My father and grandfather told me that back in your day, Shreveport wasn't what it is now, and was actually a decent place.

There was also another newstand around Lousiaina ave near Milam called Goodman news I think.

Now with all the businesses gone downtown, there is literally nothing down there outside of offices for blocks.
I use to love eating at Wiseman's almost every Friday night. It had that big baseball and bat out front. It's still there with a different name. Buffet with fish chicken and lots of home style vegetables. Wish it was still there, I still live in the area. The other place I miss is the club inside Le Bossier hotel and the Xanadu on Greenwood road it's just a pine thicket where it burned down now. But was the best night club I ever went to back in the day.

My father had a second job working at the Sunset drive in. He'd give me a dollar a night for popping the popcorn. My mother learned to drive there during the day. Some of the best times i can remember are there. Walking the brick wall around the outdoor patio. Saw Song of the South there as well as many a spaghetti western!
