Mixed ancestry? You'll do fine. Lots of people around SBC who are.
Tattoos? Lots of people with those too, some extensively.
Assertiveness? Well some are and some aren't.

I'm reluctant to say all the "suburbs" have a lot of diversity, but the Haughton, Red Chute, Eastwood area would have the most. Barksdale AFB has a lot of Airman living in those areas.

Probably the toughest feature for you will be the climate as it's summer temps and humidity aren't very pleasant.

Hope this helps.

Howdy,

Shreveport/Bossier City is a reasonable place for retirees: Warm weather, plenty of healthcare choices and easy access to Dallas, among other things. It's a rotten place for young adults who don't already have a good job and no better for raising children, excepting Bossier City, which has Houston-like traffic congestion.

I had a good job (averaged around 80k a year), was 25 when I left, had and have no desire to have kids. It was still a rotten place and I'm glad I left. It has no redeming features except that the economy is so bombed out that the housing recession back in '08 didnt affect it, lol!

Mixed ancestry? Hmmm...people there are pretty "birds of a feather". Many of my neighbors who were educated minorities did not have many friends because they were "ackin White" and didnt fit with "their" crowd because of their proper pronunciation of words and solid work ethic, and also didnt fit in with many Whites because of prejudices. If I were a minority, I could see the appeal of Shreveport, looking at the demographics, but when you realize how few of that @60% are successful professionals, you will feel really left out and frustrated. In fact, I cannot recall any of my friends who I met there that were minorities from other areas liking it or sticking around.

I'm black and no one looks at the demographics of Shreveport and say they want to move there.
