Oh this is GREAT! Have not been through there in a while. How long has this been going on? Gotta get there. My Grandpa and GR. Uncle were steam engine engineers in the timber trade.
We rode it maybe ten years ago. It was interesting to get up in the high meadowlands and see what was up there. Beautiful little meadows and wildflowers and small homesteads. The windows are open so you breathe the fresh air. And you get a little history lesson along the way.
My only complaint was that it didn't stop long enough to wander in Keystone before the turnaround.

I believe they also have holiday rides.
That is about when we rode it also. We also rode the last train of the day each way. Hopefully sometime we get back to Hill City and ride earlier in the day. Then we can catch a later train back from Keystone so we can spend some time there.
