Looking to move from out of state to the Riverview area. Have been looking at the Progress Village area. However, there have been a few interesting prospects in the Big Bend area. Anyone have thoughts/insights about the two areas? Is one more high traffic or high crime than the other? Any negatives or positives about each? Thanks

Well first, why there? What's attracting you to the area?

Here's the wiki with the raw numbers:

Have you visited the area? If not, I highly advise that you do so before considering any property for purchase.

Yes, have visited my relative several times. However, just wanted to see if anyone had any insight that I may not be aware of.

Where does this relative live? Progress Village? Riverview?

Have you been to either one of these places yourself?

Big time traffic. Nothing like it was in 1982 when my friend newbi lips lived by the TV towers.

Gibsonton doesn't have the best reputation.

Big bend, where a lot of new housing development is being built, is basically just a bedroom area for Tampa. Lots of houses, not much else besides grocery stores, fast food, and gas stations.

If you plan to work in Tampa, consider commute times. Don't trust google estimates, it usually underestimates.

I spent a lot of time in Riverview in the 90s, 2000s, and early 2010s.

Personally, I would not choose to live there.

If I were you, I would spend a week there before making a decision.
