There were two tornadoes in Tennessee. The one that hit Nashville was a EF-3. My friends live in Lebanon toward the eastern end of the path. Damage there was EF-1. Mt. Juliet next to it, though, had EF-3 damage. And you're right, that tornado was on the ground for 53.4 miles. A second tornado hit the next county over. That one was rated EF-4 though they are still working on path length. This is the one that caused the most fatalities, too, at 18 as of last night. Still had 3 people missing.

One of the NWS people surveying the Cookeville damage tweeted a picture of a home where all that was remaining was a slab. It wasn't considered EF5 because some of the carpet wasn't removed and debris was moved far enough from the site. Incredible damage that occurred outside even a 2% tornado risk per the SPC!

Final count AFAIK includes 2 in KY and 3 in TN on the same day/night. The storm track from west to east may be something like 100 miles with some skips in tornadoes. 25 total deaths with 18 in EF3 Putnam County. President Trump came to visit & tour the sites Friday. All missing have now been accounted for.

In Arkansas today. Power Flashes starting at 1:07 and debris in air. Ugh. I hate severe season. No need.

Well, it's only going to get worse from here on out. More landfalling tropical cyclones means more tornadoes later in the year.

Yes. It's been a long, very scary night and we have a lot of long days ahead. Waiting until daylight to see more of an assessment of the damage. (Chattanooga)
