While living in Europe, we spend alternate winters in Austria and the Italian Alps. These are a few of the photos from the last winter before we returned to the States, taken from the village of Söll in the Tyrol, Austria.
Here are some photos taken during the annual Bandera de la Concha (boat races for the flag of the Concha Bay) and Basque Week in Donostia-San Sebastián, a beautiful town in Northern Spain, a dozen miles from the France border.

One of the most beautiful memories in our years of travel happened in Cartagena, Colombia.
We were wandering in Old Town when an elderly woman in a freshly ironed pink dress came out of her house. She fluttered her lace handkerchief, signaling her wish for me to come nearer. I did. She started whispering. My understanding of Spanish was almost non-existent so husband stepped closer, listened carefully and translated, "She asked if you could walk her to church."
"Con mucho gusto, Señora," I said, and extended my arm to her. With her hand intertwined in mine, we walked very slowly in comfortable silence. My heart was light, and if the look on my companion's face was any indication, she was as happy as a clam.
The picture husband took of the elderly woman and me is not included below, due to my inability to blur out my mug. In its place, here is my feeble attempt at capturing the beauty of Cartagena.
