Well, after harassing people on this forum for over a year with endless questions, we finally made a decision. We had looked at Bellingham, Seattle, Vancouver, and Camas. For everyday living, we felt Seattle had too much traffic and the housing prices were just nuts. Well, they are nuts in all of the mentioned cities, but the most nuts in Seattle. A updated house from the 1950s could be a million dollars. We have some friends in Bellingham, a plus, but it was more expensive than the Vancouver/Camas area. Also, it is awkward to get to an airport (though there is one in Everett, still a ways). We liked Camas better than Vancouver, though Camas is a bit pricier, and we now have a signed contract on a house on NW 38th Ave. with great views. A bigger and more expensive house that we wanted, but it was worth it for the views. The house also had an almost new roof and almost new concrete siding and seems pretty much turnkey.

Thanks again for all of the feedback.

Congrats!! Sounds like you found a good one even in the midst of this crazy market.

And.... You won't have to wait for the Canada border to open to get to the "other" airport.

NW 38th....
It was only 39 yrs ago when we were helping friends remodel and put a basement under a farm house behind what became LAC, then 30 yrs ago helping to build the first homes off Bybee, and on NW Sierra. Still have many friends in the neighborhood who enjoy the area, but they no longer raise and sell beef, a few still have chickens.

Wide streets make it one of the safest areas for a bike commute. Several coworkers bike to Sigma, on Pacific Rim.

Enjoy the neighborhood.

Lmk if you find a quick way to Bellingham.
Nice that SWA will be serving BLI this year, but their routing from Portland will likely mean a transfer in Oakland or SJC.

I followed/commented on a few of your threads, think it was wise choosing the Camas area.
Bellingham does have an airport which I've flown out of several times, but the problem is the flight times just don't jive well with most of the popular flights leaving Seattle which you usually end up connecting to. For example, a 5:30am check-in time for a Bellingham flight to Seattle when your connecting flight doesn't depart until the afternoon. Many people take the "Airporter" bus instead which typically runs every ~2 hours, and can enjoy several more hours of sleep when you really may need it (16 hour multi-connection flight to Europe or Japan for example).

Access to an airport was a big deal and one of the reasons we did not go with Bellingham, even though we had friends there.

A little slow in responding, but we closed on 6/16 and have moved in. Still waiting for our furniture which is about three weeks overdue. Hopefully tomorrow. No regrets so far. If I wanted to be fussy, I could complain about the fact that most things are a bit of a drive, 15-20 minutes, but that is about it. Yes, forest green house.
