Put em all on the same plate so the bean gravy seeps into the hot dog bun.
^^^^Good idea!
Or...brown up the veggie dogs in a skillet and serve them alongside the baked beans. It will be similar to the franks and beans so many of us that grew up in MA would have for Saturday dinner
They say it is the best healthiest way: something about amino acids in both that compliment each other
Someone on C-D told me that theory has been proven wrong, IOW that it's not necessary to do the complimentary amino acid thing to get a complete protein, but I notice some sources still recommend that. I don't know what the latest science is. It makes sense, though.
I love rice and beans, but I use chili hot beans; have never heard of rice and baked beans. My choice would also be brown bread sans raisins, but I find both the beans and the bread - at least as bought commercially - awfully sweet.
They're easy to fix, no doubt. But what kind of grain dish to serve alongside them?
The usual options somehow don't seem very complimentary flavor-wise...
Corn? No. Rice? Not especially. Some kind of pasta, perhaps?
Ideas, please!
Corn bread. Everyone knows that!

I've never seen true Boston Baked Beans that were not made with salt pork or bacon. Since I don't eat either, I never eat true BBB..
