They're easy to fix, no doubt. But what kind of grain dish to serve alongside them?
The usual options somehow don't seem very complimentary flavor-wise...
Corn? No. Rice? Not especially. Some kind of pasta, perhaps?

Ideas, please!

How about a loaf of homemade bread with butter, hot from the oven.

I love corn on the cob with baked beans. I'd probably do that and something green

Boston brown bead and butter. It comes in a can. Just warm it up.

B & M is great, However, be sure to get the plain (no raisins) if you have pets. You can also make date bread with little effort.

Huh? Firstly, I’ve never seen it without raisins, and second, she’s not buying it for her dogs.

This has no raisins. However, they make some that does. It's a good day when you learn something.

- serve over pasta with a salad on the side

- serve with cornbread

- serve with grilled cheese sandwiches

- serve in a tortilla with other burrito favorites like rice, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, and fresh veggies like corn and lettuce

- make a lentil loaf (like a meatloaf but made with cooked lentils & veggies) & serve with boston baked beans

I'd add some sort of green veggie or salad.

This. ^^^. That's traditional. Another idea, Cornbread. I'd add a green salad, carrot salad, or coleslaw. Perhaps cinnamon applesauce.
