Leaves were still mostly on trees, limbs got weighed down, and power was out for quite some time-a mere 2 months after Irene walloped the region...

Need more time to reach point(s) where I have photos of same view (usually involving the mntn. which dominates skyline) on same date in previous year or two.
Plus, of course, I'm waiting for the mountain to offer up further color display as the weeks unfold.

For now, here's an imperfect comparison of one corner (right-hand tree has been pruned at front edge, which alters its appearance between pics).
Oct 15th, 2014 & Oct. 9, 2016 (you can see more leaves along roadside in 2014 than this year-sorry, I didn't think to take pic of the spot last fall):
Nice comparison pic! Looks like 2014 was further ahead.

I recommend you all to pick a spot or 2 and pick a date and create a "comparison" folder. Each year do the same thing. It's so much fun to look back and see what we experienced and how far behind or ahead we were that year.

I do it in the Spring and Fall.

Check out my latest comparison

This is facing North towards MA. I'll be going back to get closer to the date but no way we'll be bare and that far ahead as 2013 next week.

Yeah, I love the ability to see Satellite images in Hi Resolution now. Pretty cool!

Save this link if you want. You can scroll through each day and see the Satellite. I believe it updates once a day at 8am? But you can zoom in and see the latest color changes ... or snow cover when time comes.

Thanks...it's hard for me to remember to go to a given spot on particular date, not always practical.

Oct 17, 2015 & Oct 12, 2016
Different times of day, different lighting, same location-

My 2015 photos of the mntn. are more from late Oct. rather than mid-month, because last year it hadn't yet advanced to colorful stage at this point.
Hasn't gotten there so far this year, either...any day now, though.
Broadly, I'd suggest that foliage change came earlier in 2014 than in 2015, and sooner in 2015 than in 2016 (unless it suddenly looks all different tomorrow).

Oct 16, 2014 & Oct 11, 2016
Different vantage points, same subject (mntn. which is off to right side in the previous pair of pics)-

Oct. 16, 2016-Brattleboro VT.

There remain quite a few flowers in yards, despite the few nights where temp. approached 32F.
Morning glories on fence-

What with the overcast conditions, hasn't been enough light for taking good photos...
Tues. Oct. 18, 2016 (today) was incredibly damp, misty, hazy-
so humid that my glasses kept fogging up & I couldn't see
At last, the mountain is putting on its show of jewel tones

In first two pics, there's flock of birds in center just above ridge line.
Third pic is from downtown Brattleboro, near Co-op & museum.
